Breaking into the American job market as an international student was not easy, but I managed to do it. I can guide you on your journey to achieve your breakthrough. Your international student status is not a setback, it’s a powerful asset that brings fresh perspectives, cross-cultural agility, resilience, and a global mindset that employers increasingly value.

As an international student from Singapore, I attended an American international high school in Shanghai before completing a degree in Economics at the University of Southern California. Having lived across cultures and being fluent in Chinese, I bring a deep cultural understanding and firsthand insight into the international student experience. My industry expertise is in Corporate Finance and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).

In my junior year, I landed an internship, only to have the offer rescinded because I needed visa sponsorship. That experience was tough, but it pushed me to rethink my entire job search strategy. With a different approach, I secured a junior year internship at AECOM in Los Angeles and, later in my senior year, a full-time offer at Qualcomm in San Diego. Over four years at Qualcomm, I earned two promotions, gaining hands-on experience in financial planning and strategy.

I made the decision to relocate to the Bay Area for family reasons. With that transition, I successfully navigated a company and industry switch and now work at Visa in San Francisco. Along the way, I’ve nearly tripled my starting salary and figured out what actually works when it comes to career growth.

I know firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate job searches, career transitions and salary negotiations, especially if you’re facing visa barriers or breaking into competitive industries. My goal is to help you take control of your career, stand out in the hiring process, and land opportunities that align with your goals.

I have professional references available upon request should you require them. I have also included photos of me at work to help ease any doubts you might have about my credentials!

Success Stories

I worked with Jenny during a pivotal career transition, as I was looking to move out of a demanding investment banking and investing role into a more sustainable and strategically focused position in corporate finance. Her support was instrumental.

Jenny helped me refine my resume to highlight the right experience, provided detailed feedback on case studies, and ran live mock interviews that significantly improved my performance. She was consistently responsive, professional, and thoughtful throughout the process.

She also served as a highly objective and grounded sounding board as I navigated multiple offers with varying tradeoffs—whether in compensation, long-term growth, or work-life balance. Thanks to her guidance, I ultimately landed a role in strategic corporate finance that aligns with both my professional goals and personal priorities.

I’d strongly recommend working with Jenny to anyone exploring their next step in finance or considering a transition into a more sustainable career path.
